About
Salt Lake Voice
Salt Lake Voice is the private voice studio of Michael Rupp, one of Utah’s most respected vocal instructors.
Michael’s earliest memories are of singing; at six years old, he began performing with his four older brothers in a patriotic singing group. After several years of practice—and many voice teachers—he had obtained a unique understanding of the human voice in a way that had his friends, neighbors, and family members asking him to teach them how to sing.
After graduating from Brigham Young University’s internationally known Music Dance Theater program, Michael became a voice instructor at BYU, teaching individual voice lessons to both music majors and nonmajors. In 2007, he began teaching privately; and now, after almost 20 years of teaching voice, Michael has become one of Salt Lake’s most sought-after teachers.
Michael has been seen on stage as a featured vocalist or dancer in dozens of productions, including Evita, Beauty and the Beast, Annie, Damn Yankees, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (twice!), and several Broadway reviews; in addition, he has portrayed Jack in Into the Woods, Ralph Rackstraw in H.M.S. Pinafore, and Sir Percival Blakeney in The Scarlet Pimpernel.
A Southern California native, Michael is now based near Trolley Square in downtown Salt Lake City, where he lives with his husband and daughter.
